Two sweetie jars filled with chocolate and sweet beans on bright table

Heart sweetie jars

Sweets for my sweet, and sugar for my honey. Are we right? These cute little jars are perfect for whatever love potions, or treats, you’re using to win your way into someone’s heart.

This project comprises two different designs, both of which are cut on your ScanNCut. For the first of these free projects cut a heart stencil and use acrylic paint to create a peephole sweetie jar. For the second project, use craft vinyl and your ScanNCut’s ‘half cut’ function to create cute stickers.

Black peephole jar

To make this jar with a cheeky peephole, we cut a stencil and painted the whole jar black. When you peel the stencil back, a little window is left, giving you a hint as to what might be inside!

Materials needed:

  • Clean glass jar with lid
  • Stencil material
  • Acrylic paint in your choice of colour
  • Tag
  • String or ribbon
  • Treats!

General instructions relating to ScanNCut:

  1. Always choose the correct mat for your material. The material should stick to the mat securely. Test a small piece on a corner of your mat to make sure you can remove it again without damaging the material. You can find our handy mat and blade guide for ScanNCut DX models here, and the ScanNCut CM models mat and blade guide here.
  2. We recommend that you do a test cut before you cut your design.
  3. Patterns can be transferred to your ScanNCut via USB or WiFi, depending on your model.

Step 1

Download the cutting file and transfer to your ScanNCut machine. Using the machines in-built functions scale the heart to suit the size of your jar.

Step 2

Place the stencil material on your cutting mat. Make sure the ‘half cut’ function is enabled. Cut the stencil.

Step 3

Peel the heart stencil off your cutting mat and stick on the jar where you want the peephole to be. Make sure the jar is clean and dry before you do this.

Apply paint all over with the sponge. Leave to dry.

Step 5

Remove the stencil carefully, using the hook tool to carefully lift it without leaving a mark in the paint.

Step 6

Repeat with the lid.

Rainbow jellybean jar

Get two designs for the price of one in this project! You can use the weeded centre of the sticker vinyl to add another design to the lid of the jar. Adding rainbow jellybeans makes this jar really stand out.

Materials needed:

  • Glass jar with lid
  • Sticker vinyl
  • Transfer sheet
  • Jellybeans, sorted into colours

Equipment needed:

Download cutting file here

Step 1

Download the cutting file and transfer to your ScanNCut machine.

Step 2

Attach your vinyl to your cutting mat. Select the ‘half cut’ function and cut.

Step 3

Once the ScanNCut has finished cutting, remove the mat from the machine. Weed around the design with the ScanNCut’s hook tool. Using the transfer sheet, carefully lift the XOXO part out of the middle of your cut vinyl design and lay it on the lid. Smooth it down and remove the transfer sheet.

Step 4

Using the transfer sheet, transfer the heart design on to the front of the jar, in the position you prefer. Smooth down and remove the transfer sheet.

Step 5

Carefully fill the jar with layers of jellybeans and voila!
