
Mother’s Day Card
Nothing is more heartfelt than a handmade Mother’s Day card. Celebrate the mother figure in your life with this stunning papercut Mother’s Day card.
Materials
Paper/Card (All minimum size A4 or US Letter)
- 1 Sheet 65lb/210gsm cardstock for the card
- 1 Sheet 65lb/210gsm cardstock for the matts
- 1 Sheet patterned paper for the background
- 1 Sheet patterned/coloured paper for the decorative elements
- Flat backed gems (optional)

ScanNCut Kit
- Brother ScanNCut – any CM model
- Standard mat [CAMATSTD12]
- Standard blade [CABLDP1] and blade holder [CAHLP1]
OR
- Brother ScanNCut – any SDX model
- Standard mat [CADXMATSTD12]
- Standard autoblade [CADXBLD1] and holder [CADXHLD1]
Extras
- Glue
- Tweezers
- Hand embossing tool and mat
How to
Step 1
Download the CanvasWorkspace project file using the button above.
Step 2
Open the CanvasWorkspace project file in Brother’s CanvasWorkspace (the desktop version, not the online version).
Step 3
Open the layers tab on the right.
Step 4
Hide and lock all layers except the one titled ‘CARD’.

Step 5
Transfer this to your ScanNCut machine using the File>Export/Transfer FCM File… menu option.
Step 6
Cut this from the cardstock you chose for the main body of the card.
Step 7
Back in CanvasWorkspace, hide and lock all layers except the one titled ‘MATTS’.

Step 8
Transfer this to your ScanNCut machine using the File>Export/Transfer FCM File… menu option.
Step 9
Cut this from the cardstock you chose for the matts.
Step 10
Back in CanvasWorkspace, hide and lock all layers except the one titled ‘BACKGROUND’.

Step 11
Transfer this to your ScanNCut machine using the File>Export/Transfer FCM File… menu option.
Step 12
Cut this from the patterned paper you chose for the background.
Step 13
Back in CanvasWorkspace, hide and lock all layers except the one titled ‘DECORATION’.

Step 14
Transfer this to your ScanNCut machine using the File>Export/Transfer FCM File… menu option.
Step 15
Cut this from the patterned paper you chose for the decoration.
Step 16
Shape the flower petals and flower centres using a ball tool and soft mat, then glue into pairs of similar size. You should end up with one large flower and two smaller flowers.
Step 17
Assemble the Mother’s Day card in the following order:
a. Card.
b. Solid Matt.
c. Background.
d. Decorative Matt.
e. Decoration – Sentiments and Flowers.
