Brother helps to sew comfort

Brother donates sewing machines to the French charity P’tites Plumes d’Aura

Brother is supporting the French charity P’tites Plumes d’Aura, so that they can make more baby clothes and accessories to bring comfort to hospitalised infants and their families.

The two Brother CS10 sewing machines will be used during craft workshops organised by the charity. Volunteers who don’t possess a sewing machine will also be able to learn the basics of sewing and contribute to the work of the association.

Angélique Carlais, president of the charity declared: ‘These machines will help us produce more clothes and accessories and so increase the impact of our charity. They’ll also play a role in increasing access and inclusivity to those who can’t afford a sewing machine or those who have never sewed before.

The P’tites Plumes d’Aura has a double goal. Firstly, it is to provide clothing and accessories for babies in hospital. But, as a charity, we also work to create social links and break isolation for a lot of our volunteers. The social aspect of our charity is hugely important, and the material support brought by Brother will ensure we can provide support, learning and friendship to many more people.’

Eric De Cocker, General Manager of the French Benelux region of Brother Sewing Machines Europe said ‘When we realised these two machines wouldn’t be sold, there was no question about gifting them to a charity. When we saw the mission of the P’tites Plumes d’Aura, we felt very strongly that it was a cause that we wanted to contribute to. Our motto is ‘At your side’ and this is exactly what P’tites Plumes is doing with their work too. We hope our donation will allow the volunteers to create even more clothes and accessories which will bring comfort to babies and their families.

‘We’d also like to thank Brother dealership La maison de la couture for their help delivering the machines and the advice provided.’

The P’tites Plumes d’Aura has 170 volunteers tirelessly working to produce hundreds of textile projects to the neonatology and paediatrics services of 15 hospitals in France. These projects require their time and efforts as they’re all custom-made to answer the specific needs of each baby. Each creation is made with love and in partnership with the medical staff of the beneficiary hospitals.

Both families and medical staff regularly express their gratitude for the volunteers’ actions, which bring both practicality and heartfelt support during a difficult time.
