Winners of the Brother ‘Machine Made’ embroidery competition announced

We’re delighted to announce the winners of the Brother x Embroidery Magazine ‘Machine Made’ competition.

The ‘Machine Made’ competition was organised in partnership with the Embroiderer’s Guild and Embroidery Magazine to empower and promote textile artists that are pushing the boundaries of embroidery and textile art. Each of the winners is an accomplished textile artist.

Hannah Glossop and Alyssa Robinson were selected by jury from a pool of highly competitive entries. Each selected embroidery artist will be loaned a Brother embroidery machine for four months to push the limits of their art. The artists’ progress will be documented in Embroidery Magazine and on social media.

Hannah Glossop
has a vibrant style that incorporates a range of techniques and often leverages fabric manipulation techniques. Hannah will be working on the Brother Innov-is Stellaire XJ2 sewing and embroidery machine and will also use Artspira to bring additional elements to her work.

Hannah said: “I am beyond excited to have been given this wonderful opportunity. I can't wait to get started experimenting and see what the machine can do. A huge thank you to the Embroiderers Guild and Brother for this amazing opportunity!”

Alyssa Robinson is an experienced embroiderer and tutor who has experimented with a variety of techniques with a particular preference for free motion embroidery. Alyssa will be using the Brother Innov-is NV2700 sewing and embroidery machine. She too will also use Brother’s Artspira embroidery design app to enhance her work.

Alyssa said: “I'm so thrilled to have been selected. It will be so exciting to have a chance to use the Brother machine. I've never had a chance to try anything like this before, it'll be great to have the time to really experiment with it and find out how it might fit in with my current practice. I'm really looking forward to putting it through its paces and learning some new skills myself.”

We’re eagerly waiting to see what these two textile artists get up to. If you want to follow their progress you can using the links below:
