The Independent newspaper rates it as the best beginner’s machine.
We’re extremely proud to announce that the Independent has awarded Brother’s Innov-is F420 its Indy Best Buy award and voted it ‘best overall beginner sewing machine’.
Scoring a full 10 out of 10, the Independent said of the fully computerised sewing machine that it ‘was an absolute joy to use’.
The expert testers also found that ‘the machine breezed through every project we used it on, and having such a wide variety of both utility and decorative stitches to choose from… meant that we could always find the perfect one, whatever we were making.’
The Brother Innov-is F420 has 140 built-in stitches, including 10 buttonholes plus five styles of lettering font. We’ve designed it with trouble-saving features, like the adjustable pressure foot, automatic needle threader, drop-in bobbin, thread cutter and start/stop function. For those working on larger projects like quilts, there’s a handy knee lift – perfect for hands-free sewing!
At Brother we like to design all our machines to stay ‘At your side’ as you grow your sewing, embroidery and quilting skills. Here’s what the Independent’s impartial testers said of this, ‘for those who get the hang of the hobby and want to take things further, the F420 comes supplied with seven extra presser feet and is pre-loaded with Brother’s My Custom Stitch software, which gives users the option to create and save their own stitch designs for a truly bespoke experience.’
They also said, ‘It was a close contest between the Innov-is F420 [and its competitors] but the F420 won out in the end due to its lower price, beginner-friendly features and all round usability. It’s an informative digital machine that is simple enough for a complete beginner to pick up, but still offers enough functionality to let stitchers grow and expand their skills as they learn.’
And that’s not all! In the same article the Independent also rated the Brother Innov-is NV1800Q as the best high-end machine they tested, scoring it a solid 9/10.
