My journey designing outfits for the Brother Stellaire film
Designing outfits to promote the new Brother Innov-Is XJ2 and XJE Stellaire machines was nothing short of exciting.
As a textile artist passionate about crafting unique pieces, the opportunity to design four looks for different family members was a dream come true. From a luxurious silk dress to a whimsical dragon costume, each creation was infused with love and meticulous attention to detail.
For the mother of the family, I envisioned a timeless yet contemporary piece. An elegant, teal-coloured silk dress adorned with intricate embroideries of peacocks and delicate motifs; the drape and hue of the silk complementing the colours of the embroideries.
The embroidery I used in the design incorporated the Stellaire’s built-in designs, which are ready to be stitched onto any fabric. I found the designing process very easy thanks to My Design Center, which means you can design embroidery straight into the Stellaire, and the machine's many embroidery hoops and accessories.
The look was completed with an elaborate bolero. This item was made by assembling a multitude of crochet flowers, each made using the new crochet-lace feature on the Stellaire! I picked a variegated thread for those, which matched the colours of the peacocks on the dress.

Prom night teen:
Designing for the teenage daughter's prom night was a thrilling challenge. Embracing the youthful exuberance of the occasion, I ventured into uncharted territory for me! For the design I opted for a bold and edgy look in a black and purple palette, with crafted pleather trousers paired with a stunning purple corset.
To add a touch of whimsy, a five-tier overskirt made from lavender-coloured tulle complemented the silhouette. A bold leaf embroidery design was repeatedly applied to each tier of the overskirt and on the fabric used for the corset, adding a little gothic touch throughout the outfit.
Using scraps and leftover fabrics, I completed the look with a shoulder back, featuring the same large leaf embroidery.

Turning my attention to the middle sibling of the family, I aimed to create a piece that combined comfort with style.
Experimenting with hand-dyed yellow and purple towelling fabrics I created a hoodie. The Stellaire’s designing capabilities allowed me to easily turn a hand-written ‘Skates’ logo into a beautiful and oversized chest embroidery, adding a playful and personalised touch to the cosy garment.
I decided to pair this hoodie with a casual pair of jeans, which were made of light denim, and the leftover scraps of towelling and denim fabric were used to make a practical shoulder bag for the kid.

Enchanting fantasy for the baby:
Lastly, designing a dragon costume for the adorable baby was a delightful moment.
I wanted to create a cute ensemble that would spark imagination and joy, using plush and ultra-soft pastel fabrics. The Artspira app, and the Stellaire’s matrix function, made the creation of colourful patches very easy. Each patch was added to the costume to give it a little more story and character.
The baby also had a dragon soft toy, made in the same fabric as the costume and in similar tones of pastel blue, pink and purple.

Conclusion:
Designing outfits for Brother was a fun journey filled with creativity, passion, and innovation. From the elegance of silk to the playfulness of plush fabrics and the creation of crochet lace, each garment was a testament to the versatility and precision of Brother's Stellaire Innov-is XJ2 and XE2.
